Dear Coronado Community,
Welcome to the 2012 – 2013 school year. We are off to a great start and I would like to share some of the important events and focuses for the year. We will be focusing on credit recovery and graduation and a good start for your student is regular attendance. Last year we had the highest attendance in the West Covina Unified School District with over 98%.
We will field a sports program that will feature football, basketball, softball, and possibly soccer.
Coronado’s students will continue to volunteer in the community with organizations that serve youth, elderly, homeless, those with special needs, and the environment. The students volunteered over 412 hours last year and look forward to surpassing that figure.
In 2011, Coronado was named a Model School by the state of California. Coronado is also a recipient of CCEA’s Exemplary award for its attendance program.
In the classroom we will focus on “thinking Maps” to support student learning.
Lastly, in February we will go through state accreditation. This process commonly referred to as WASC will validate all of the great things that happen at Coronado High School!
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or suggestions.
